Class 4

LOVE ONE ANOTHER. AS I HAVE LOVED YOU. (JOHN 13:34)
WE SHARE, WE CARE, WE DARE

Class 4

In Class 4 we have Year 5 and Year 6 pupils taught by Alison Steer and Nicola Chambers and supported by Julia Joliffe and Gemma Perry.

As the oldest children in the school, it is now time to expand their world view, using high quality texts to bring all learning experiences to life by walking in the shoes of others around the world and from significant periods of history.

Across Key Stage 2, children experience a full and broad Curriculum, where possible we use our termly topics to inspire our art and design technology work. The children enjoy being challenged to apply their learning in Maths to problem solve and use experiments to extend their understanding of the world around them in science.

The children also have an allocated Chromebook which is used as a tool to enrich the children’s learning experiences.

Class 4 is also a time to take on greater responsibility in the life of our school, both as ‘Buddies’ to the Reception children and in assuming other responsibilities such as helping run assemblies and charity activities where we think about the wider community.

For Year 6 pupils, it is a particularly significant year and we encourage them to maximise learning opportunities, both in and out-of-school. This includes a thorough transition for Secondary School. We believe it is important to develop leadership skills that contribute to the well-being of everybody in our school and to prepare them for their next step in their education.
